Kelsey's first day of 1st grade

My little girl has begun FIRST GRADE. I can't get over how fast everything seems to be happening. It helps that she is so excited about school and she is so happy with her teacher.

This picture is from registration day and we met her new teacher for the first time.

This is her very first day of school. Doesn't she look a little sleepy? We have been spoiled this summer with sleeping in and getting ready at our leisure.

She picked out her 'first day of school outfit' all by herself. She was so excited!Little bro had to jump in the picture, too! I had to take their picture again at school (just like last year). This one is probably my favorite. As we walked into the school, a group of teachers stopped us and said I couldn't take her to class. WHAT?!?! I told them I thought we could walk them to class the first week of school. They said only in Kindergarten. I said, "you mean I can't take her to class on the FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL?" They said, no. I could feel my face turning red and just in time, Kelsey's Kindergarten teacher spoke up and said "I saw they let two other parents walk by. I think it will be fine for today." I saw the other teachers give her some looks but I quickly thanked her and we walked on to class. :) WHEW!

Sure enough, I get to Kelsey's class and there are at least 4 or 5 other parents in her class. It was pretty chaotic with all the new supplies and figuring out where to put everything. I was glad to have been there to help out.

More importantly, it meant the world to Kelsey. Here is a silly picture of my babies at Kelsey's new desk.

We have been picking out her clothes the night before which has helped tremendously when a certain sleepy head doesn't want to get out of bed. :)

In the middle of the week, Kelsey decided she would make a list to help me when I make her lunch. She is so funny! She needed some help with some of the words, of course, but the idea was all hers. Oh and teddy meant teddy grahams. :) I just love her.
She kept asking if Brady and I could have lunch with her so we finally decided to surprise her at school. Brady was VERY excited about it. He walked around the house with his lunchbox all morning!!! As we sat on the bench waiting for her class, Brady told everyone that passed "I eat lunch with my sister. Her name is Kelsey Grace and my name is Brady and this is my mommy." It was the cutest thing!
As soon as we saw her class coming down the hall, Kelsey saw us and her face LIT UP! Brady was waving his arm and Kelsey couldn't have walked any faster.
I am so thankful that I was able to eat lunch with her especially after seeing just how much it meant to both of them!
Her first week of 1st grade was a success! She loves her teacher and her class so far. We've already had homework and we are getting into a good routine of getting it done as soon as we get home so she can play with her brother the rest of the day.
Brady has missed his sister. He loves going to pick her up in the afternoon.

What a special bond they have--there really is nothing better!
