We decided to take the family to Mexico for our family vacation this year. We went with friends who were very familiar with the area and couldn't wait to show us around Playa del Carmen. My friend, Anne, was so familiar with our resort because she actually worked for the architecture firm that designed it. So neat! I think they said they've been to Playa five or six times (and now I understand why!). :)
I was a little worried about the plane ride with the kids. Our last flight together was when we went on the Disney Cruise in 2009 and it wasn't too fun flying with little kiddos. We planned it out to have a layover in Dallas so we could fly the second leg with our friends. The kids were so excited to meet up with them and thankfully, they were fantastic to fly with this year. Whew! :)
When we arrived in Cancun, we took a short drive to our resort: Fairmont Mayakoba. We were greeted by the manager and he wanted to chat with us. He explained to us that a huge convention would be arriving on Thursday and they wanted to make sure we were well taken care of. Uh ok, great???
Then, he let us know they would upgrade our room to a Beach Area Casita Suite. *twirls*
Finally, he dropped the bomb on us.
They want to move us to a different resort in the area on Thursday so they could ensure we were getting the level of service we deserved. WHAT?!?! Are you kidding???
Immediately, I could feel myself getting angry until he name dropped moving us to the Rosewood. Anne's company did the architecture for the Rosewood as well and when I saw her face light up, I knew it was a good thing. Then, she whispered to me "OMG that is where Katie Holmes stayed and the cheapest room is like $600 per night." For FREE? Um, YES PLEASE! :)
So, we take a golf cart to our new suite and let me tell you, this place blew our mind! Take a look at this!!!
Yes, we were ooohing and ahhhing over the inside of this place then we go outside to take a look at the relaxing lagoon area but when we notice the stairs and BAM!!! our own private pool? Seriously, can this vacation get any better? The answer is YES YES and YES!

The kids were elated when we found the pool and sundeck upstairs! I think the exact words out of Kelsey AND Brady's mouths were "BEST VACATION EVER!" :)Shortly, after we finish wiping the drool off our faces, we hear a knock on the door.
Oh, it was just our own private butler delivering a bottle of wine for our (early) anniversary. NICE!
